NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 8 — Acting Deputy Inspector General of Police Abdalla Komesha has said security agencies have scaled up patrols in religious institutions, social places and estates to deter crime during the extended Easter weekend.
Komesha said Saturday security agencies will do their best to protect Kenyans and their property.
He noted that the country’s security situation is calm and that no major security incidents had been reported so far.
“We have enhanced security in social places and gatherings including places of worship, the malls, entertainment joints so that Mwananchi goes about their activities without any fear or hitch,” he said.
He emphasized that additional security personnel have been deployed along the beaches in the Coastal region, which typically experience an influx in tourist numbers during festive seasons.
The Acting DIG called on the members of the public to report any suspicious activities to police for appropriate action.
Komesha assured Kenyans of their security noting that security agencies are alert and will do whatever it takes to ensure maintain law and order
He further reiterated that they had equally enhanced patrols and surveillance on highways across the country to reduce traffic accidents during the Easter holiday.
