NPS calls for collaboration between business owners and law enforcement to enhance security

NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 9 Authorities have issued a plea to business owners to collaborate closely in addressing the evolving security challenges facing the nation.

Nairobi Regional Commander Adamson Bungei reiterated the National Police Service’s dedication to tackling business security concerns, emphasizing the importance of ensuring safety and fostering conducive operational environments.

“We have adopted a need-based approach to address security challenges. Engaging with customers enables us to tailor solutions to their specific needs, ensuring a conducive environment for all stakeholders,” stated Bungei, highlighting the police force’s adaptability to emerging security dynamics.

Bungei made the appeal during a prayer meeting in Nairobi, attended by hundreds of senior police officers who gathered for a thanksgiving service.

In areas identified as susceptible to insecurity, Bungei assured proactive measures, including heightened police presence and collaboration with private security firms, to strengthen security frameworks and effectively mitigate risks.

Jackton Amutala, Director of Operations and Business Development at PrideInn Hotels, Resorts, and Camps, echoed Bungei’s sentiments, stressing the critical role of enhanced security in driving success in Nairobi’s hospitality industry.

“Improved collaboration between the hospitality sector and law enforcement has yielded tangible security enhancements within Nairobi’s hotels, attracting a surge in local and international business,” remarked Amutala.

He expressed gratitude to the police, particularly acknowledging the newly introduced squad known as ‘The Sword’, which patrols hotels to ensure visitors’ security.

Amutala underscored the symbiotic relationship between security and business prosperity, asserting that Nairobi’s reputation as a safe destination reflects the collective achievements of law enforcement agencies and the hospitality sector.

He emphasized that sustained efforts in enhancing security measures have propelled Nairobi’s hospitality industry to unprecedented heights, positioning it as a premier destination for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) and business travelers worldwide.
