Brace yourself for a rollercoaster ride of drama, danger, and family legacy with Reckless, the latest Kenyan drama series set to premiere exclusively on Showmax on June 23.
Produced by Live Eye Limited, Reckless dives deep into the lives of the Sonoko brothers, whose world is turned upside down after a tragic accident during an illegal street race.
Forced to abandon their privileged lives in the city, the brothers retreat to a rural village where they must grapple with their haunted past, harsh new realities, and the immense pressure of living up to their family name.
Meet the Sonokos and the Powerhouse Cast:
Brian Abajah (Single Kiasi) stars as Pete Sonoko — a 23-year-old rich kid riddled with arrogance and entitlement. Pete’s journey is one of reckoning as he battles to discover humility and purpose.
Sammy Okore (Machachari) plays Mika Sonoko, the younger, carefree brother. At 18, Mika is all about parties and pretty faces, with little interest in responsibilities. His strained bond with Pete adds to the drama, as both clash over values, ambition, and love.
Godfrey Odhiambo (Malooned) takes on the role of Edward Sonoko, the family patriarch. From rags to riches, Edward’s rise is nothing short of legendary—but the reckless choices of his sons threaten to shatter everything he built.
Georgina Mbira (Our Perfect Wedding) is Melinda Sonoko, the boys’ emotionally distant mother. Her cold, disciplinarian style only widens the rift in the already fractured family.
In the Village, New Forces Come Into Play:
Ntinyari Mburukua introduces Ella, a fiercely independent local girl who immediately clashes with the spoiled Sonoko brothers. She sees through their charm — and she’s not impressed.
Ann Muli (The Chocolate Empire) plays Debbie, a scheming rival to Ella and determined to win Pete’s attention at all costs.
Eddie Mbugua (Igiza) is James, a smooth-talking villain whose manipulative tactics pose a real threat to the Sonokos’ future.
Joyce Musoke (Wise Woman) appears as Agatha, James’ long-suffering yet loyal wife, who chooses silence even when her husband’s actions grow darker.
Wanjiru Marima adds heart to the story as Ziki, Ella’s younger sister, offering a glimpse into the innocence and struggles of village life.
The ensemble cast also features Joan Kenduywa, Benard Marie, Alex Mwangi (Neema), Mavoko Mbatha, Brian Ogutu, Susan Karani, Nyawira Gichuhi, Zeraya Ramtu, Brian Furaha (Somewhere in Kole), and Kevin Mbayagi.
