NAIROBI, Kenya, March 19 – Former Lunch Bar Quins boss Philip Jalang’o, is the new Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) vice chairman after edging by the thickness of a vest past incumbent Alexander Sasha Mutai, in polls held Wednesday during KRU’s Annual General Meeting at RFUEA Grounds.
Jalang’o who was serving as the Union’s Director of National Squads and Elite Performance garnered 22 votes beating Mutai who doubled up as chair of Commercial and Marketing Committee by a single ballot in the tightest of contests where serving boss, Mwangi Muthee, found no challenger as he soared to his second term after wresting control from long serving Richard Omwela.
Nondescript RFC’s Eddy Omondi grabbed the Secretary General seat with 32 votes after trouncing Ochien’g Ahaya who garnered 11.
The post fell vacant after holder Jack Okoth was appointed KRU Chief Executive Officer.
