NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 27 – Hungary looks to open its doors to Kenyan students by adding two universities for applications.
The two institutions, which include the University of Sopron and the University of Miskolc, add to existing higher learning institutions such as the University of Debrecen.
Others are the University of Pecs and the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
Hungarian Minister for Trade and Foreign Affairs Péter Szijjártó, while officiating the event, asserted that the move would go a long way in enhancing economic transformation in Kenya as well as Africa.
He stressed the need to tap into the youthful African populace to drive economic change on the continent.
“60 percent of African population is below 25 percent hence the need to invest in education. These youths will intern come back to contribute to the development of their nations,” he said.
On her part, State Department for University Education Principal Secretary Beatrice Muganda lauded the move as a hub for job creation for Kenyan youths.
“These young people will shape the future of Kenya. They will be at the forefront of finding solutions to global issues,” she said.
The program has also partnered with the University of Nairobi to bolster skills transfer.
Likewise, it rolls out 200 scholarships annually to Kenyan students.
