NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 10 – A total of 20,000 housing units will be built at Changamwe in Mombasa by the National Housing Corporation (NHC).
The houses will sit on sixty acres of land, comprising 10,000 affordable, 4,000 social, and 6,000 cheap market houses.
The estate will include schools, a sports complex, access to clean water, electricity, sanitation, and other integrated amenities.
State Department for Housing and Urban Development Administration Secretary Hiram Kahiro said that the project will address the housing shortage in the coastal town.
“We recognize the need to promote socio-economic development in this region and across the country, passing on the benefits of affordable housing to individuals, families, and the community at large,” Kahiro said.
The government has called for support and collaboration from residents to ensure the success of the initiative.
