Absa waives SMS, e-statement notification fees

NAIROBI, Kenya, July 20 – Absa Bank Kenya PLC has removed fees and charges on all transactional notification messages (SMS) and e-statements.

Its Head of Premier and Liabilities, Simon Gachahi, said that the waiver is in response to various surveys and customer experience channels.

“By implementing this waiver, Absa is conscious of the need to boost our customers’ overall satisfaction and the growing need to cushion them from unnecessary costs,” Gachahi said.

The removal of additional costs on transactions is a boost to depositors, who are deducted numerous charges while withdrawing, depositing, or paying for goods and services.

This comes at a time when the lender is looking to adopt cutting-edge and cloud-based technologies.

The bank recently introduced a Digital Savings Account that offers consumers an interest rate of 9 percent per year with monthly interest payouts on their savings.
