We all have told a white lie to either make ourselves look better or avoid hurting someone’s feelings. It has become such a habit for most of us that the lies come out without us even thinking about it.
Here are a few white lies that I’m sure we all recognize:
1.“I will be there in 5 minutes.”
This is the most common lie. For those of us who can hardly keep time, this lie is a daily reminder of our poor time management skills. Unfortunately, once you are caught in this lie, it might be difficult to recover. You just might end up being dubbed as ‘forever late.’
2.”I was stuck in traffic.”
According to Best Life, 51 percent of workers have told this lie at least once. This white lie is often a last-ditch attempt to save face after one probably overslept. Let’s be honest this is quite an effective lie. Who won’t believe you knowing how busy the streets of Nairobi are?

3.”I remember you.”
Have you ever been to a family gathering and there is an aunt who asks you if you remember her and you just agree? Or an old classmate who you just recall? To avoid seeming aloof, or unfair. Unfortunately, you can easily be caught in this lie especially if they ask you something about them or something you did together. It gets even worse if they ask you their names.
4.”My phone died.”
This is the perfect alibi especially when the call was cut during a conversation may be due to poor signal or your credit balance is at zero or poor battery life. You may not have wanted to continue on with the conversation, but it makes someone feel better when you say your phone died.
5.”I’m sick.”
According to reports, 40 percent of workers have lied about being sick at least once every year even when they are completely healthy. Don’t make it a habit though because the day your really sick no one will believe you.
These are just a number of common lies that we all say. Which white lie is most memorable?
