NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 28 — The United Kingdom imposed traffic flow restrictions on Monday over a ‘technical fault’ impeding its Air Traffic Control capabilities.
The announcement came even as one airline reported “network-wide failure”.
Scottish airline Loganair tweeted saying there had been a network-wide failure of UK ATC computer systems, warning some flights may face delays.
Britain’s National Air Traffic Service (NATS) said in a statement that it was taking precautionary measures to limit traffic flow in light of the technical fault.
“We are currently experiencing a technical issue and have applied traffic flow restrictions to maintain safety. Engineers are working to find and the fix the fault,” the agency said in a brief statement.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”
