American actor Michael K. Williams, 54, has succumbed to a confirmed heroin overdose.
This after being found face down and unresponsive in his Brooklyn (New York City) apartment.
According to authorities, a relative of Williams called the actor on Friday 3th September, and Williams had an event to attend on Saturday 4th September, but the actor never showed up.
Cops were later informed and showed up to the rappers high-end apartment. Heroin traces were found on a table in the dining room. At 2.12 p.m, Williams was pronounced dead owing to a fatal overdose according to sources. How long the actor may have been dead remains unclear.
Further, cops revealed there was no suspected foul play or forced entry into Williams’ apartment, which confirms the confirmed overdose the more.
“It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Emmy nominated actor Michael Kenneth Williams. They ask for your privacy while grieving this unsurmountable loss, ’’ said spokeswoman Marianna Shafran to the Hollywood Reporter.
The renowned Emmy-nominated actor, synonymous with his roles among them Omar Little in The Wire, Chalky White in Boardwalk Empire and his role in Lovecraft Country.
Williams had previously opened up about his past struggles with drugs. Speaking of his acting roles in a past interview, Williams said he brought his own experiences (including own struggles) to roles to give the characters more nuance. He even famously had a facial scar – the aftermath of a fight outside a Queens bar when he was 25. The actor would credit the scar with securing him a lot of ‘thug roles’ in his first acting breaks.
Williams started out as a backup dancer for Madonna and George Michael before transitioning into acting, after being buoyed by the late rapper Tupac Shakur to pursue the profession.
