NAIROBI, Kenya Aug 4 – More than a thousand unemployed youth from Laikipia are set to benefit from artisans skills through Nyota on job experience programme.
The six month long training launched today(Monday) will equip the young people with skills including barber, welding, beauty and therapy , ICTs among others through apprenticeship.
The initiative which is also benefiting teenage mothers, upon the completion of the apprenticeship, they will be awarded with certificates by National Industrial and Training Authority(NITA).
The Nyota programme targets over eight hundred thousands youth across the country with aim of equipping them with skills for self employment and dissuade them from drugs and substance abuse.
The beneficiaries have welcomed the On Job experience Nyota programme noting it will be a major boost to the youth even as they grapple with unemployment.
