Dec 11 – The Sultanate of Oman’s Head of State, Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, is scheduled to embark on a state visit to India on December 16, accompanied by a high-level delegation of senior ministers and officials, as confirmed by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in a statement released on Sunday.
This visit holds significant importance as it marks the inaugural state visit of Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman to India, signifying a milestone in the diplomatic relations between the two nations.
Sultan Haitham will be in India at the invitation of President Droupadi Murmu and will be welcomed by both Prime Minister Modi and President Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, where a ceremonial welcome will be conducted.
During his visit, the Omani leader is scheduled to engage in bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Modi, who will also host a luncheon in his honor. The visit presents an excellent opportunity to explore future avenues for collaboration between India and Oman, with a focus on regional stability, progress, and prosperity, as emphasized in the press statement.
India and Oman share a longstanding history of friendship and cooperation, underpinned by mutual trust, respect, and deep-rooted people-to-people ties that span centuries. The two nations have established themselves as strategic partners, with bilateral trade and investment relations flourishing over time.
In a related event, in September, Oman’s Deputy Prime Minister Asaad bin Tariq bin Taimur Al Said attended the G20 Summit, hosted by India during its G20 Presidency in New Delhi.
