NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 16 – The Women in Film Awards in Nairobi recently honored actors and creators from shows on MultiChoice-owned channels, Maisha Magic and Showmax.
Victoria Goro of MultiChoice Talent Factory was recognized as the most influential woman in film, while Grace Irungu and Mary Gacheri received awards for Best Scriptwriter and Best Actress, respectively, for their work on ‘Nyakio, My Love’.
Lynn Gitau was awarded Best Director Student Film for ‘Somewhere in Kole’, a project by MTF students.
Dora Nyaboke and Margaret Wacera were finalists for their roles in ‘Second Family’ and ‘Chinga’ respectively.
Lucy Mwangi and Jacqueline Mungai were also recognized for their contributions to TV drama and film direction.
Margaret Mathore of M-NET East Africa emphasized the importance of advocating for gender inclusivity and promoting content produced by industry leaders.

Now in its 5th edition, the Women in Film Awards celebrate women across various categories, including directors, writers, producers, cinematographers, editors, sound designers, and other professionals working within all facets of film production.
