Majid Al Futtaim Retail Business School earns NITA Certification

NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 9 – The Majid Al Futtaim Retail Business School has become the first retail training institution in Kenya to receive certification from the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA).

The certification allows the school, operated by the company that runs Carrefour Kenya, to offer nationally recognised vocational training programmes in specialized areas including Meat Technology, Retail Food Management, Bakery and Pastry Technology, and Food Service Operations.

Christophe Orcet, Regional Director for East Africa at Majid Al Futtaim Retail, said the accreditation highlights the company’s commitment to strengthening professional skills within Kenya’s retail sector.

He noted that the certification will help enhance the capabilities of the company’s workforce of more than 3,000 employees while supporting the development of future retail leaders in the country.

Acting Director General of NITA Theresa Wasike said the accreditation reflects strong collaboration between the private sector and national vocational training standards aimed at addressing skills gaps and improving workforce competitiveness.

Since its establishment in 2024, the Retail Business School has played a key role in Majid Al Futtaim’s investment in workforce development. In 2025 alone, the institution delivered over 44,700 hours of training, resulting in 500 certifications and 108 internal promotions.

With the new accreditation, the training programmes will now provide employees with nationally recognised qualifications, supporting long-term career growth within Kenya’s retail industry.
