Lawyer Angela Mulwa re-arrested at Milimani Law Courts over Dr Victoria Mutiso murder

NAIROBI, Kenya Aug 24 – Lawyer Angela Mulwa is set to face a murder charge over the death of Dr Victoria Thunya Mutiso after she was re-arrested at the Milimani Law Courts.

Mulwa was taken back into custody on Monday as the State moved to charge her alongside her mother, Rose Mbithe Mulwa alias Rose Mbithe Ndetei, and Chris Mulwa.

A charge sheet states that the three are accused of murdering Dr Mutiso on July 29, 2026, at about 9:30am along Mawensi Road in Kilimani, Nairobi County.

The prosecution alleges that they acted jointly with other individuals who have not yet been brought before the court.

Mulwa had previously been detained as detectives continued investigations into Dr Mutiso’s death. The State had sought additional time to keep her in custody, arguing that investigations were ongoing and that the matter had been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions for a decision on whether to charge her.

The court, however, dismissed the application seeking to extend her detention.

Her lawyer, Danstan, opposed the request and raised an objection based on jurisdiction, arguing against the court granting the prosecution further time to detain his client.

Mulwa was subsequently re-arrested at the Milimani Law Courts as the State prepared to proceed with the murder charge.

She is expected to be arraigned on Tuesday alongside the other suspects, when the prosecution will formally present the charges before the court.
