Kindiki Touts Kenya’s National Infrastructure Fund at Dar es Salaam Summit

NAIROBI, Kenya Aug 5 – Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has urged African countries to safeguard long-term development policies from political transitions, saying policy consistency is critical to unlocking infrastructure investment and accelerating the continent’s industrialization.

Speaking while representing President William Samoei Ruto at the Infra for Africa Forum 2026 and the Africa50 General Shareholders Forum in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Kindiki said Africa must place people, technology, partnerships, good governance and political stability at the centre of its infrastructure and energy agenda to achieve sustainable economic growth.

Addressing the forum attended by Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, leaders from across Africa, development partners, global investors, infrastructure experts and private sector leaders, the Deputy President described policy disruption arising from changes in government as the biggest threat to Africa’s development.

He noted that large-scale infrastructure projects require stable policies spanning several decades to attract investment and deliver lasting benefits.

Kindiki also highlighted Kenya’s National Infrastructure Fund as an innovative financing model that mobilizes domestic resources and private capital to support strategic infrastructure projects while reducing pressure on public finances.

He further underscored the importance of regional integration, citing the Ethiopia-Kenya-Tanzania electricity interconnection as a successful model of cross-border cooperation.

The Deputy President also proposed extending natural gas pipeline networks from Mozambique through Tanzania to Kenya to enhance regional energy security, lower energy costs and stimulate economic growth across the region.
