FKF caretaker committee suspends all national leagues for two weeks

NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 12 – The Football Kenya Federation Caretaker Committee has announced a suspension of all national leagues for a period of two weeks to ensure regularisation of all activity across the country.

The FKF Premier League, National Super League, Division One, Women’s Premier League and Division One Leagues remain suspended at least until November 26.

The Aaron Ringera led Committee made the announcement after their first meeting on Friday morning where CS Amina Mohamed officially handed over the report from the Registrar’s Office audit and handed over the mandate.

The Committee has announced however, that all grassroot leagues will continue.

There were several National Super League Round Two matches scheduled for this weekend while the Premier League was set to resume next week after the international break.

Harambee Stars are scheduled to play against Rwanda on Monday and earlier, Mwendwa had said the match might not happen if they are blocked from organizing the game.

Tusker FC and Gor Mahia are also scheduled to compete in the play-off round of the CAF Confederation Cup on November 28.

On Thursday evening, Federation officials led by embattled FKF boss Nick Mwendwa reiterated that they will continue running football in the country, terming CS Amina’s intervention as an illegality.

The latest development will open a new front of war between Mwendwa and Amina, with FIFA having communicated earlier on Friday that they will refer the matter to its judicial bodies in the event that the Committee indeed goes on with the Federation’s mandate.

The Federation has been accused of gross misappropriation of funds with the Sports Registrar’s report asking relevant authorities to come in and investigate the financial dealings of the Federation.
