Public Service, Affirmative action and Gender Cabinet Secretary nominee Aisha Jumwa is on the vetting hot seat and snippets from the sessions in Parliament are making the rounds on social media.
One video that has caught the attention of Kenyans on Twitter is where the politician details her education history and the struggle she has had to endure just to get an education.
In the video, Jumwa who dropped out of Ganze secondary school due to lack of school fees, said that she had to to erase the past of ignorance and grace academic corridors of university.
The former Malindi MP went back to school years later, sat for her Kenya Certificate for Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations in 2011, joined Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology for a certificate in County Governance in 2012 and later received an executive Masters degree in Leadership and Governance in 2015 from the same institution.
Her quest for education for the 47-year-old did not stop there, in 2021 she graduated with Bachelors degree in Leadership and Management from the International Leadership University in Nairobi. She has subsequently registered to pursue a law degree from African Nazerene University.
While her education history is being scrutinized, Jumwa’s sacrifice and dedication to empower herself irrespective of the challenges is admirable.
