NAIROBI, Kenya Jan 30 – The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has launched a compliance monitoring exercise targeting the Affordable Housing Programme, in a move aimed at strengthening accountability and preventing corruption during project implementation.
The exercise was officially launched at the Affordable Housing Board headquarters at Prism Towers.
Speaking during the launch, EACC Director of Preventive Services Vincent Okongo said the initiative is designed to proactively identify compliance gaps, assess corruption risks, and institute preventive measures across the programme.
“The exercise will help strengthen systems, promote integrity, and enhance accountability among the Affordable Housing Board and other implementing agencies,” Okongo said.
He noted that early detection of risks would ensure public resources are safeguarded while improving efficiency in the delivery of affordable housing units under the government programme.
Affordable Housing Board Acting CEO Joseph Kagicha welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and necessary. He thanked the Commission for its support and reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to transparency and good governance.
“Prevention is better than cure. We will fully support this exercise and implement all recommendations that arise from the process,” Kagicha said.
The compliance monitoring exercise forms part of EACC’s broader preventive approach to curb corruption in major government projects and improve service delivery to citizens.
