NAIROBI, Kenya, April 2 – The Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK) has upgraded its e-procurement portal in a bid to improve efficiency, accountability, and the user experience with suppliers.
CAK writes in its latest Report and Financial Statements for the financial year ended June 30, 2023, that the integration with the e-citizen platform enables seamless access to services through Single Sign-On (SSO), aligning with the government’s technology agenda.
The authority prioritizes visibility and organizational sustainability through a comprehensive approach, notably in information and communication technology (ICT).
CAK adds that it is continuously monitoring and safeguarding against cyber threats through the maintenance of firewalls and conducting regular staff training sessions to mitigate potential risks.
“The Authority began aligning its Information Security Management System (ISMS) to the ISO\IEC 27001:2022 Standard. The Standard takes into account new business practices, such as cyber security, privacy protection, remote working, bring your own device (BYOD) and cloud-based systems,” the report stated.
In terms of knowledge management, the authority has installed a digital repository (DR) to systematically organize and provide accessibility to various reference materials.
This includes research reports, determinations, conference papers, and annual reports, contributing to the preservation of intellectual capital and enhancing the visibility of their output.
Furthermore, the Authority ensures the integrity and availability of service provision through equipment and infrastructure enhancements.
They undertake the upgrade of ICT equipment approaching end-of-life, including network switches, routers, and end devices.
The initiative aligns with evolving technological needs, ensuring that their systems remain robust and reliable to serve their stakeholders effectively.
