NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 2-Absa Bank Kenya has appointed Fulvio Tonelli as a non-executive director of the bank, effective October 1.
In a statement, the bank’s Board of Directors Chairman Charles Muchene said Tonelli brings to the board an understanding of the banking industry and strategic thinking in addition to extensive knowledge and experience in managing such areas of finance, risk, and technology.
Tonelli recently retired from PwC Africa where he served as the firm’s chief operating officer in which he was responsible for the strategic direction and effective operation of functions covering risk and quality, finance, Information Technology, and all other internal support services.
“Prior to his role at PwC, he was an audit partner leading service delivery to a portfolio of clients, which included some of the firm’s largest financial services clients in South Africa and was also the firm’s banking audit group leader,” Muchene said.
Tonelli holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting from the University of WitwatersrandSouth Africa and is a member in good standing of the South Africa Institute of Chartered Accountant and registered auditor with over 30 years ’ experience
