NAIROBI, Kenya, May 3 – The National Treasury has appointed Lawrence Kibet to be the new Director General (DG) of Public Investments and Portfolio Management.
Kibet joins from Image Registrars Limited, where he was serving as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director.
His new responsibilities include coordinating, managing, and providing leadership in government investments and public enterprises, assets and liabilities, among others.
The new DG boasts extensive experience in general management, commercial and business strategy, accounting, and finance management.
He is also knowledgeable in corporate governance, capital raising, commercial law practice, project management, and innovation management.
Some of the sectors to which he has been exposed include finance and banking, energy and petroleum, telecommunications and technology, logistics, and consumer products.
Others include banking, agriculture, mining, manufacturing, and commercial services in numerous markets across Africa.
Kibet holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Finance Option) and Law (LL.B. ) as well as a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Nairobi.
Moreover, he is a member of professional bodies such as the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya (ICPSK), Law Society of Kenya (LSK), and Investor Relations Society (UK).
