NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 26 – Skyward Airlines will increase ticket prices starting April 1, 2026, citing rising aviation fuel costs linked to global supply disruptions.
In a statement, the airline said it will introduce a fuel surcharge across all tickets as the industry grapples with higher operating expenses.
“Aviation fuel remains one of the largest cost components for airlines. Rising global fuel prices have necessitated this adjustment to maintain sustainable operations,” the airline said.
The move comes amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East involving Iran, Israel and the United States, which have disrupted shipping routes.
The Strait of Hormuz—a key global transit corridor handling about 20 percent of oil and gas shipments—has seen reduced traffic as security risks rise.
Airlines globally have been impacted by the surge in fuel prices, with carriers warning of potential fare adjustments to cushion margins.
Skyward said it will continue monitoring the situation and review pricing should market conditions stabilize.
