NAIROBI, Kenya, May 10 – Local carrier Safarilink will suspend flights between Nairobi and Kitale due to unfavourable business environment.
Success of the route has been derailed by high cost of fuel and below par airport facilities that led to flights being cancelled.
It’s exit from the route comes after resumed flights to the route last year.
The firm Chief Executive Officer Alex Avedi told Business Daily that the last flight will be on June 8, 2023.
The carrier, which focuses on touristic destinations, was flying the route five-times a week using Dash 8-100/200 aircraft.
Safarilink said it will reimburse flyers who had booked tickets from June 9.
Safarilink launched its operations on the route in 2016.
In 2020, it suspended the route as the airport was undergoing renovations
