NEW DELHI, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) — Light rains lashed Delhi and nearby areas over the past 24 hours, thus bringing down the air pollution levels.
Air pollution has hit the headlines over the past couple of weeks, even as the air quality index (AQI) entered the “severe” category on several occasions.
The overall AQI in and around Delhi, which had worsened to above 500 at times over the past few days, came down to around 330 on Friday.
Light rains began on Thursday night, and recurred through Friday at regular intervals.
According to a media report by “The Indian Express”, with pollutants being washed away by rain, the particulate matter (PM) levels fell to concentrations within the 24-hour prescribed limit early on Friday.
