PS Oluga leads solemn Mashujaa Day tribute for Raila

NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 21 – Medical Services Principal Secretary Ouma Oluga on Sunday led a solemn Mashujaa Day tribute for former Prime Minister Raila Odinga at his gravesite.

He was accompanied by his wife Mercy Jelimo as they laid a flower in honour of the former Prime Minister’s enduring legacy in Kenya’s struggle for democracy and national unity.

PS Oluga, who was a close political ally of Odinga and joined government through the broad-based governance agenda previously described the late statesman as a national hero whose impact will be felt for generations.

The floral tribute by the Principal Secretary came amid a series of high-profile visits to the burial site, including that of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, who arrived earlier in the day to pay his respects.

Kenyatta, laid a wreath and observed a moment of silence, accompanied by Odinga family members.

Mashujaa Day, observed annually on October 20, commemorates the men and women who contributed to Kenya’s liberation and nation-building.

This year’s observance carried a profound national significance following the passing of Odinga, widely regarded as one of the country’s foremost champions of democracy.
