NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 18 – A total of 135,071 Identification cards (IDs) and 53,189 birth certificates remain uncollected from Huduma Centres across the country, an official has revealed.
Huduma Kenya Chief Executive Officer Ben Chilumo said in a statement Friday that 42,652 driver’s licenses are also yet to be picked by its owners when he issued an update on the backlog of documents.
Chilumo urged Kenyans to visit the Huduma Centres in their areas of jurisdiction to pick their documents adding that his office is deeply committed to ensuring effortless access to essential government services for all citizens.
“With a strong focus on efficiency and innovation, we are continually striving to enhance the accessibility and availability of government services through our Huduma Centres and digital platforms,” Chumo said.
The Huduma Kenya CEO further regretted the inconvenience occasioned by the delay in processing of National identification cards, police clearance certificates, self-help groups certificates and drivers licenses at Huduma Centres explaining that it was as a result of “unavoidable system downtime.”
He confirmed that Identification Cards services have fully resumed following discussions with National Registration Bureau (NRB)
Chumo pointed out that discussions are still ongoing with the relevant Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to soon normalize the other services.
