Meet Eddie Picaso: The talented artist who gave Ethic Entertainment the ultimate salute

Eddie Picaso is more than just a graffiti artist.

Accounting student turned graffiti artist Eddie Wanjau known to many as Eddie Picaso, followed his passion for art and decided to dedicate his life to graffiti and the impact he could make. Learning from graffiti guru Lithium, he took his love for sketching and illustration to new heights; learning the tips and tricks that would elevate his career as a local artisan.

A true fan of Reckles, a member of the award-winning Ethic Entertainment crew, Picaso dedicated a special mural to the gengetone act. A significant cornerstone of Matwana culture, the graffiti piece not only singled out Ethic Entertainment for their impact on the local music industry but also propelled Picaso into the limelight as one of the major names in the local art scene. Speaking about what inspired his special mural, he told The Sauce, “I choose to do Ethic to promote a culture that is growing especially in Kenya. It is like our voice for playing local music in matatus…And I love Ethic!”

Speaking about the Juakali industry, the Picaso noted that indeed his work is more than just moving pictures. He said, “Message yangu sana sana ni kwa investors. Art can add value to any object at least to bring income that you never thought it would bring.”

Picaso has previously exhibited his work in local galleries before moving onto creating masterpieces that grace the highways and by-ways of Nairobi. He pointed out that he would also like to create a special piece for some of Hip Hop’s biggest names including Khaligraph Jones and others. Encouraging the youth, he pointed out “si lazima mtegemee white-collar jobs, once you get the skills, you can be the employer…like for me, once unachora there are so many other people that come into play. Kuna mtu wa kufit interior, kuchoma…”
