NAIROBI, Kenya Jan 31 – The National Police and Prisons Reforms Taskforce led by former Chief Justice David Maraga has kicked off its sittings at the Bomas of Kenya.
Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome became the first to submit proposals to the task force mandated to make the recommendations on the improvement of the Terms and Conditions of service and other Reforms of the National Police and Kenya Prisons Service.
Addressing the task force at the Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi, the IG highlighted critical challenges faced by police officers in the execution of their duties and thus hampering efficient and effective service delivery to the public.
He called upon the Taskforce team to visit all parts of the country and seek further submissions and views from members of NPS on the ground.
The retired Chief Justice on his part outlined the objectives of the National Taskforce which include in part identifying the constraints on effective service delivery by NPS and Prisons Services as well as reviewing and recommending improvements of the terms and conditions of service.
The IG also gave a tour to the team as police officers from different NPS Units NPS showcased their tools and equipment of work.
