NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 18 — The Government has revealed the identities of 35 persons linked to terrorist activities in Lamu and the Boni enclave that has experienced an upsurge in Al-Shabaab-sponsored attacks in recent weeks.
The Ministry of Interior and National Administration on Tuesday published the names and circulated the images of the suspects who include both foreign and local fighters.
The suspects include a UK citizen, Tanzanians, an Ethiopian, a Bangladeshi among other nationalities.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki said the 35 are believed to be connected with the placement of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) on various earth roads in the area and the killing of civilians along the Lamu-Witu-Garsen Highway.
They are also accused of the cold-blooded murders of civilians at Lango la Simba, Witu, Mpeketoni, Juhudi, Salama, Hindi, and other areas, and the attack on the American Military Base at Manda Bay on January 5, 2020.
“Security and Intelligence agencies are appealing to the public to volunteer information that will lead to the arrest of thirty five (35) masterminds of the terror network responsible for the deadly terrorist attacks in Lamu County and the Boni Enclave generally,” Kindiki said.
CS Kindiki said that a substantial cash reward will be offered to any person who provides credible information leading to the arrest of any of the suspects.
He, however did not divulge the details on the amount of the reward.

- Yunus- a Kenyan. He is a weapons repairer/armorer for the Alshabaab. He was injured in Sarira airstrike in 2017.
- Yakub, A Tanzanian.
- Mohammed Abdi Aiden.
- Argawi, Aka Ramadhan Mwangi Muchiri- a Kenyan and driver for the Jaysh Aman Brigade.
- Abdukadir Mohamed Abdukadir, aka Ikrim.
- Abdifatah Abubakar Abdi, aka Musa Kenyati aka Musa Muhaji.
- Zakaria Karongo from Majengo, Nairobi.
- Ramadhan Kafungwa.
- Abdikhadir aka Abdullahi.
