OL KALOU, Nyandarua Apr 22- Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development Cabinet Secretary Zachariah Njeru presided over a prize-giving day at Nyandarua High School on Saturday where he urged learners to take their studies seriously.
CS Njeru, who studied Form 5 and 6 and served as the Entertainment Captain at the school in Ol Kalou, awarded prizes to the best-performing students in last year’s KCSE as well as current students who excelled in academics.
The CS encouraged students to work hard on their studies and aspire to be responsible citizens.
The Cabinet Secretary, who was joined by several local leaders led by Nyandarua Governor Dr Moses Badilisha Kiarie and Senator John Methu, opened a new dormitory and also planted trees at the school.
Nyandarua High School has a rich history. It is the only mixed National School in the country and was established in 1965.
It is the third most preferred school according to a selection of secondary schools.
Some of the 2022 KCSE candidates who were given prizes for excelling in exams were Mbugua Lewis who attained an A, Kamau Mbugua (A), Wambui Juliet (A-) and Samuel King’ori who attained an A-.
