NAIROBI, Kenya Mar 6 – Kenya unveiled its strategic plan for export market competitiveness for the years 2023-2027, to enhance the competitiveness of locally manufactured products in the global market.
Trade Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano launched the plan on Wednesday that aims to propel Kenya’s economic growth and development forward.
“Still with this plan, there is a need for adherence to quality standards in penetrating international markets,” she said.
Miano emphasized the hurdles encountered by Kenyan enterprises in meeting rigorous export market standards, largely due to lapses in adhering to quality control protocols.
She expressed confidence that the Strategic Plan would tackle the obstacles, especially for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), by outlining a pathway for standardization and increasing their recognition in regional and global markets.
Miano also urged industries to adhere strictly to KEBS standards, highlighting the crucial role of quality compliance in advancing industrialization and fostering employment opportunities.
