NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 22 – Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has maintained his stance on rewarding loyalty after he declared that he will only serve United Democtratic Alliance (UDA) supporters, as President William Ruto serves all Kenyans.
Speaking during the launch of the Nairobi Rivers Commission in Korogocho Wednesday, Gachagua stated that all Kenyans will receive government services, but he as a UDA leader will focus on the party’s supporters.
Gachagua was responding to Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi who had spoken prior to him saying that the government will serve all without discrimination.
“President Ruto will serve all Kenyans. He as the leader of the country will continue with that work, and I as the leader of the UDA will continue to deal with the people of the UDA,” Gachagua stated.
In his sentiments, Mudavadi said the Kenya Kwanza government will work with all Kenyans and respect everyone.
“Today we are in Korogocho and the people here chose their leaders who are not in Kenya Kwanza, and being here is a testament that we are going to work for all Kenyans despite who they voted for,” Mudavadi stated.
The DP has in recent days been criticized for stating that Kenya is like a company where some are major shareholders while others do not have shares.
Speaking in Kericho on Sunday, Gachagua declared that government appointments and contracts are a preserve of those who voted for the Kenya Kwanza government.
He said the Kenya Kwanza government will reward its staunch supporters and those who toiled to put the current government in office and give least consideration to members of the opposition.
“This government is a company that has shares. There are owners who have the majority of shares, and those with just a few, while others do not have any. You invested in this government and you must reap. You sowed, tilled, put manure and irrigated, and now it is time to reap,” the country’s second-in-command said on Sunday.
