NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 17 – The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) in collaboration with the National Police Service (NPS) have arrested suspects undertaking illegal Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) in Nairobi and Kiambu.
In a statement released on Tuesday, EPRA said that they conducted a raid on unscrupulous gas plants, between January 13 -16 and managed to arrest suspects and various exhibits dealing with Liquefied petroleum gas malpractices.
In Embakasi East, Nairobi, at the Salama Gas plant, four suspects were detained pending arraignment.
“The four will be charged under section 14k of the LPG Regulations 2019, that outlaws wholesale or retail of filled cylinders belonging to another brand owner without written consent from the brand owner and such consent submitted to the Authority,” said EPRA.
The plant owner of Crescent Energy Limited in Kikuyu Constituency Kiambu County will be charged for trading in filled gas cylinders without seals, and dealing in cylinders without antecedent brand owners written.
‘’Two hundred and eighty-four filled gas (LPG) cylinders were seized at Crescent Energy Limited while one hundred and seventy-six assorted LPG cylinders were confiscated at Salama Gas Limited,” said EPRA.
