NAIROBI, Kenya Apr 3-Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has called on Kenyans to embrace reflection, unity, and renewal during the Easter period, describing the death of Jesus Christ as the ultimate expression of love.
In a Good Friday message, Kindiki said the sacrificial death of Jesus represents the most powerful demonstration of love ever, highlighting the significance of the season in the Christian calendar.
He noted that Easter offers an opportunity for hope and redemption, adding that it marks a defining moment in the spiritual journey of believers.
“On this Good Friday, hope is renewed, redemption made possible and victory over sin is cemented,” he said.
The Deputy President described the Easter weekend as a solemn period for reflection and renewal, urging Kenyans to pause and consider the deeper meaning of the occasion.
“The Easter weekend remains the most solemn season of the Christian calendar, for pause, reflection, renewal and celebration of the most consequential moment that conclusively defined our destiny,” he stated.
Kindiki also extended his wishes to families across the country, expressing hope for peace and unity.
“May every family find peace and clarity. May our nation work together to achieve our purpose and destiny,” he said.
His message comes as Christians across Kenya and the world mark the Easter season, commemorating the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
President Ruto in his message reflected on the meaning of Easter, saying the season reminds people that difficult moments do not last forever.
“As we remember the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, may this season remind us that after every trial, there is a resurrection and a new beginning,” Ruto said.
The President spoke directly to families and individuals going through tough times, encouraging them to remain strong and hopeful.
“To every family, may the spirit of Easter bring joy and peace. To every weary heart, may it bring hope and renewed faith,” he added.
President Ruto also used the opportunity to call for national unity, stressing the need for love and togetherness among Kenyans during the Easter period.
“And to our beloved nation Kenya, may it bring strength of unity and love. May God bless your families, may God bless Kenya,” he said.
Christians mark Good Friday as the day Jesus Christ was crucified, ahead of Easter Sunday which celebrates his resurrection, a symbol of victory, renewal and new beginnings in the Christian faith.
