NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 21– Detectives in Thika on Wednesday apprehended two men linked to the abduction of a lady on December 16 in Kiambu’s Juja area.
The suspects, also accused of stealing over Sh645,000 from the victim, were arrested after the vehicle they were using was intercepted following a road chase with DCI’s operations agents .
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations said Laban Chomba Muthini and Peter Mugera Maburi had abandoned the blindfolded victim at Githingiri Estate near Thika Greens Gatanga in Murang’a County.
Narrating her ordeal, the victim told police how the said vehicle occupied by two men and a woman had pulled over beside her on the morning of December 16, and one of the men flung the door open forcing her onboard.
“Once inside, she was blindfolded and ordered to give her mobile money and bank account PINs where over Sh585,000 was withdrawn and transferred to six registered lines, and another Sh80,000 in cash stolen from her purse,” DCI said Wednesday.
DCI said the suspects kicked the victim out of the vehicle at 8pm on December 16 after robbing her.
The victim later reported the matter at Samuru Police Station.
An identification parade ordered following the arrested of the two suspects saw the victim positively identify the abductors.
The police secured custodial orders from Kiambu Law Courts to facilitate the conclusion of investigations.
