NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 6 – TikTok has reinforced its safety measures in Kenya, removing over 334,000 videos in Q3 2024 for violating its Community Guidelines.
According to its latest Community Guidelines Enforcement Report, 88.9% of these videos were taken down before any views, while 93% were removed within 24 hours of posting.
Key Policy Violations in Kenya
TikTok’s proactive content moderation focused on several key policy areas. The report highlights that violations related to Integrity & Authenticity were among the most prevalent, with 99.7% of such videos removed before any user reported them. This effort aims to combat misinformation and fraud, ensuring users engage in a reliable and credible online space.
Content related to Mental & Behavioral Health was another critical focus area, with 99.9% of harmful content removed before any reports, and 96.4% taken down within 24 hours. This demonstrates TikTok commitment to safeguarding mental health, particularly among younger audiences.
For Youth Safety & Well-Being, 99.7% of policy-violating content was taken down before any views, further reinforcing the platform’s dedication to protecting minors. Similarly, 99.5% of inappropriate content under Sensitive & Mature Themes was removed before being reported, with 95.8% taken down within 24 hours.

TikTok’s commitment to safety extends beyond Kenya. Globally, the platform removed over 147 million videos during the same period, with 118 million detected and removed by automated systems. This translates to a 98.2% proactive detection rate, setting a high standard for content moderation worldwide.
