NAIROBI, Kenya, July 9 – Cybersecurity solutions provider Sophos has announced a major enhancement to its Sophos Managed Risk service through the integration of Internal Attack Surface Management (IASM).
The new capability is designed to help organizations identify and mitigate internal vulnerabilities before they are exploited by attackers.
Cyber threats are increasingly targeting unseen weaknesses within corporate networks, coinciding with the announcement.
According to Sophos’ State of Ransomware 2025 report, 40 percent of organizations impacted by ransomware over the past year were compromised due to exposures they were unaware of.
The upgraded Sophos Managed Risk now combines both internal and external attack surface management to give organizations comprehensive visibility into their security gaps.

The new IASM feature introduces unauthenticated internal scanning, which assesses systems from the perspective of an external attacker without requiring user credentials or privileged access.
This technique allows companies to detect and fix high-risk vulnerabilities such as open ports, exposed services, and misconfigurations that could be easily targeted by hackers.
Unlike other cybersecurity providers that offer external and internal attack surface management as separate products, Sophos provides a fully integrated managed service.
It uses Tenable Nessus scanners to detect vulnerabilities within networks and prioritize them using artificial intelligence to guide organizations toward efficient and effective remediation.
