NAIROBI, Kenya Dec 9 – The spouse of Deputy President, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, has affirmed her unwavering stance against LGBTQ during an address in Kwale County.
Pastor Dorcas, speaking on the occasion of placing 348 youth from Mombasa County into rehabilitation centers in Mombasa and Kwale Counties, emphasized her clear position on the matter.
She affirmed that no intimidation would sway her determination in the ongoing battle against the issue.
“I stand for what God wants us to do. Constitutionally it is a marriage between a man and a woman, not a man and a man, or woman and a woman. Our culture also says no to LGBTQ. And that is my conviction and that is what my God has said. “She said.
Pastor Dorcase added: “What God says is what I will do, if others want to do in their countries and if that is what their god says let them do, we respect them”.
On Tuesday, Pastor Dorcas stressed that Africa, as a continent, is not prepared to legalize LGBTQ.
Addressing the audience at the launch of Pastor Patience Museveni’s book, “Jesus’ Africa,” the daughter of President Yoweri Museveni, Pastor Dorcas, expressed the view that Africa would prefer to forgo trade with nations advocating for LGBTQ than to legalize what she referred to as “the vice.”
“We must stand for what is true and what is right. My daughter (Patience Museveni) continues with what you are doing, don’t stop, and don’t be intimidated. We will stand with you. “She said.
“LGBTQ does not have a place in Africa, It is better to miss on trade but have our integrity intact. “she added.
She addressed the audience following President Museveni’s Special Adviser Odrek Rwabwogo’s announcement that he was flying from Nairobi to the United States to defend Uganda’s government stance on LGBTQ issues.
Odrek revealed that the U.S. had threatened to exclude Uganda from the Africa Growth Opportunity Act (AGOA) trade deal after the country passed a law criminalizing LGBTQ activities. The bill was signed into law by President Museveni earlier this year.
