Multimedia University studenyts are currently protesting over delayed disbursement of Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) funds.
The rowdy students lit bonfires and blocked the roads around campus including the busy Magadi Road Tuesday morning forcing police to use teargas to disperse them.
The protests also affected businesses around the campus.
Amateur footage circulated widely on social media platforms, including X and Facebook, showed students setting tires ablaze and others fleeing from the institution, with some captured scaling fences to escape the chaos.
The public institution is yet to issue an official statement on the cause of the protests.
