NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 16 – Kenya Airways (KQ) has warned of possible flight disruptions at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) following operational delays in air traffic control as airport workers begin a go-slow.
The airline said the disruptions follow a statement by the Kenyan Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) on contingency measures introduced to safeguard aviation safety and ensure service continuity.
Passengers have been advised to expect schedule adjustments, including delays, affecting some departures and arrivals.
KQ urged customers to check their flight status before travelling to the airport, monitor official communication channels for updates and explore rebooking options through its mobile app or website where necessary. The airline cautioned passengers against proceeding to the airport without confirmed flight status.
Kenya Airways said the safety, security and comfort of its customers and staff remain its top priority and pledged to share updates as more information becomes available.
Last week, workers under the Kenya Aviation Workers Union (KAWU) issued a seven-day strike notice, warning of industrial action if KCAA fails to address grievances including stalled collective bargaining agreement (CBA) negotiations, poor working conditions and contract conversions.
