NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 27 – The Consumer Federation of Kenya (Cofek) boss Stephen Mutoro has been appointed a member of the Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute for a period of three years.
In a gazette notice, Investments, Trade, and Industry Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano announced that Mutoro will serve for a period of three years, effective immediately.
“IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by section 9 (1) (g) (iii) of the Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry appoints-STEPHEN MUTORO to be a member of the Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 27th October, 2023,” the notice read.
KIRDI does research, development, and innovation in industrial and allied technologies, including civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering.
Others are chemical engineering, textile technology, industrial chemistry, food technology, ceramics and clay technology, power resources, mining technology, and natural products.
On the other hand, Cofek is an independent body that advances consumer protections.
“I want to thank His Excellency President William Ruto and Industry CS Rebecca Miano for the appointment,” Mutoro told Capital Business.
“I pledge to work with my colleagues and management of KIRDI to take it to another level. My experience in consumer protection, service delivery and public service expertise would certainly offer demonstrated value on growing our national industrial agenda through experiential research and dissemination,” he added.
