NAIROBI, Kenya July 8 – Association of Insurance Brokers of Kenya (AIBK) has partnered with Birdview Microinsurance to scale up microinsurance adoption, particularly among niche and underserved markets.
The partners aver that the move is anchored on deepening insurance access in Kenya.
AIBK CEO, Eliud Adiedo, emphasized the alliance as a step toward inclusivity.
“By focusing on niche markets and leveraging technology, we can break down barriers and bring the benefits of insurance to those who need it most.”
Despite a growing need for financial security, insurance penetration in Kenya remains low, especially among low-income earners, SMEs, and informal sector workers.
Microinsurance, which offers low-cost, targeted products, has been flagged by experts as a game-changer for the industry.
Birdview Microinsurance CEO, James Kimani, affirmed the company’s mission to uplift vulnerable communities.
“Birdview is deeply committed to restoring dignity to our clients. With brokers controlling nearly 40% of the market, we believe they play a vital role in advancing microinsurance. We aim to build impactful relationships and ensure microinsurance truly flourishes.”
Birdview highlights the diaspora’s role, asserting that the company is tailoring tech-driven solutions for Kenyans abroad to provide medical cover for families back home.
The partners contend that the move is poised to usher in a more inclusive, innovative insurance era, bringing financial protection closer to millions and helping secure Kenya’s economic future.
