NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 6 — Private Security Regulatory Authority (PSRA) has revoked operating licenses and certificates of registration for nine private security firms cited for breach of minimum wage regulations.
PSRA published the revocations on Tuesday despite a court order suspending the directive to implement a Sh30,000 minimum wage pending a further directive on February 12.
In a legal notice number PSRA/OO1/2024 issued by the authority’s CEO Fazul Mahamed, the regulator said the firms had violated provisions of the Private Security Regulation Act.
Mohamed cautioned the public, including private firms, against engaging the listed security firms.
“Pursuant to Section 10(c), 31(b) and 32 of the Private Security Regulations Act No 13 of 2016, the Authority hereby notifies users, prospective users, representatives of users of private security services and general public that it has with immediate effect cancelled the certificates of registration and licenses of the private securities listed in the schedule hereto,” he directed.
Firms affected by the directive include Victory Protective Services Africa Limited, Victory Consultants Limited, Bedrock Security Services Limited, Bedrock Security Alarms Systems and Product Limited and Senaca East Africa Limited.
Others are Hipora Security Solutions Limited, Salama Fikira International (Kenya) Limited, Marco Security Limited and Superb Marketing Solutions Limited.
Mahamed emphasized that the authority is keen on ensuring that all the security firms adhere to the laid down directives.
He vowed to periodically review the compliance statutes of all security firms in the country.
Mahamed warned Kenyans against procuring the nine listed security firms until they comply with its standards.
PSRA reported the number of registered private security firms in the country at 715.
