PS Mwadime Receives Financial Excellence Reporting Award at FiRe Awards

NAIROBI, Kenya Dec 6 – Labour and Skills Development Principal Secretary Shadrack Mwadime on Friday night received the Financial Excellence Reporting Award during the 2025 FiRe Awards ceremony held at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi.

The State Department for Labour and Skills Development was recognised for outstanding financial reporting under the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) in the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) category.

While accepting the award, PS Mwadime said the recognition underscores the State Department’s dedication to strengthening transparency and accountability in public finance management.

“This award reaffirms our unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and prudent use of public resources,” he said.

He noted that the achievement reflects the collective effort of the entire team within the State Department.

“We will continue strengthening our financial systems to ensure every shilling is accounted for and used to improve the lives of Kenyan workers,” he added.

The FiRe Awards — regarded as East Africa’s premier governance, accountability and financial reporting platform — also celebrated excellence in corporate governance, sustainability, and environmental reporting across public and private sectors.

This year’s ceremony was attended by National Assembly Finance Committee Chair Hon. Kimani Kuria and Controller of Budget Dr. Margaret Nyakang’o, among other senior officials and industry leaders.
