Babajide Isreal Adebanjo, a Nigerian man, has made history by setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest duration of twerking.
He achieved this impressive feat in Lagos on January 14, 2024, by twerking continuously for 3 hours and 30 minutes.

Guinness World Records recently highlighted Adebanjo’s accomplishment on their website, officially recognizing his extraordinary effort. Adebanjo shared his excitement in a heartfelt message: “We are beyond thrilled to announce that our record-breaking achievement has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records! Although we missed the congratulatory email on the day it was approved, we’re making up for it now with a big shoutout to our amazing team and supporters! We’re incredibly proud to have set a new standard in twerking, and we couldn’t have done it without your energy, enthusiasm, and support.”
For Adebanjo, this record attempt was a deeply personal mission to step out of his comfort zone and raise awareness for those suffering from depression worldwide. He wanted to convey a powerful message: no goal is too outrageous, too big, or too small to achieve.
Before Adebanjo, the record was held by Elena Sofie Sterlini, an Austrian who twerked for 2 hours and 1 minute on January 3, 2023. A Guinness World Record was set on November 15, 2014, in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, for the largest number of people twerking simultaneously, with 406 participants at the Big Freedia and Central City Festival.
