Kenyans on Twitter outraged by the Christmas tree erected at JKIA

Kenyans on Twitter took to Twitter to express their displeasure over a Christmas tree erected at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

Kenyan airport authorities are on the receiving end of some heavy criticism on Twitter for the Christmas tree at the main international airport in the capital.

The tree found at the centre of the airports parking lot looks more like branches of a tree plastered together to form a tall tower. It is decorated with an assortment of Christmas decorations with gift boxes placed underneath the tree.

However, Kenyans are not happy with the look of the Christmas tree. KOT could not believe that an airport of JKIA’s stature could erect a flimsy Christmas tree.

One user said it looked like a pine tree in the desert while comparing it to other beautiful trees put up at various locations around the world.  Another described it as embarrassing and added that it was not a must for them to put up the tree if they could not do it right.

A Christmas tree adorned with ornaments and lights is a centrepiece of the festive season.

The Jomo Kenyatta International Airport is the largest in East Africa and serves about 11 million passengers annually, according to the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority.
