NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 14 – Global security firm G4S Kenya has announced plans to lay off approximately 400 employees over the next six months.
In a letter to the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, G4S stated that the redundancy exercise will take place gradually from November 2024 to April 2025, impacting staff across various locations and including both management and unionized employees.
The company cited challenging economic conditions and reduced revenue as reasons for the layoffs, which have increased the cost of business operations.
“This letter serves as a notice of redundancy under the provision of the Employment Act, 2007 Section 40,” G4S noted in its statement.
Despite the planned layoffs, G4S reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining operations in the Kenyan market.
