NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept 10 – Former World Bank and African Development Bank expert Sitati Olando has been appointed to head the Government Delivery Unit (GDU) on an interim basis.

Sitati, who previously served as GDU’s Director of Delivery, takes over from Lee Kyonze, whose mandate has been revoked.

In his new role, Sitati will report to Eliud Owalo, the Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Delivery and Government Efficiency at the Executive Office of the President.

“The acting tenure of Mr. Lee Kyonze in the same position has been revoked with immediate effect,” said Daniel Irukan, Head of Public Communication and Deputy Director of Information.

He added that the process of recruiting a substantive head of GDU has already been initiated in consultation with the Public Service Commission.

The GDU is tasked with improving coordination of national government flagship programmes, as well as monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on the fulfillment of development priorities and projects.

Sitati holds a PhD in Project Management from the University of Nairobi.
