Diana Ndukumumo Appointed Liquidator as Invesco Enters Provisional Liquidation

NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 26 – Diana Ndukumumo has been appointed provisional liquidator of Invesco Assurance Company Limited, following a High Court order issued on July 31, 2025.

The move is part of efforts to stabilize the beleaguered insurer amid ongoing financial troubles.

“Invesco Assurance is now under provisional liquidation, and I will act on behalf of the company without any liability,” Ndukumumo stated in a notice.

Creditors of the firm are required to submit detailed claims through Proofs of Debt, while directors must file a Statement of Affairs within 21 days to support the liquidation process.

The current move follows a liquidation petition filed in December last year.

Invesco Assurance has faced recurring financial strain over the past decade, including liquidity shortfalls and regulatory scrutiny from the Insurance Regulatory Authority.

The troubled insurer struggled to maintain solvency amidst rising claims and operational costs, issues that were exacerbated by a challenging economic environment and stiff competition in Kenya’s insurance sector.

In February, the Commissioner of Insurance extended the statutory management period for Invesco for an additional six months, effective from February 14, 2025.

The move was preceded by its placement under statutory management in August 2024 by the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA).

The Policyholders Compensation Fund (PCF) had been tasked to continue serving as the Statutory Manager during this period, ensuring that regulatory and operational matters are addressed as required by law.
